Objectives
To help the youth foster a lifelong reading habit, facilitate their personal growth and enable them to care for the community through reading, guided reading, critical thinking, sharing and discussion.
Format
- Regular meetings will be held to cultivate reading interests among members through extensive reading on various topics, sharing of reading experiences and casual discussions. Reading materials may include printed or electronic books, chapters or excerpts of books, newspaper and periodical articles, multimedia resources and materials on selected topics.
Target Audience
Hong Kong Public Libraries registered readers from Primary 4 to Secondary 6.
Details
- 15 to 30 members for each reading club.
- The frequency of meetings varies between different reading clubs. Each meeting lasts for around 1 hour to 1.5 hours. Electronic certificates will be awarded to members who achieve an attendance rate of 50%.
- To encourage active participation, schools with all nominated students achieve 100% attendance will be awarded an "Most Active Participating School Award" e-Certificate.
- 80% of the quotas will be allotted for school nomination, with the remaining 20% open to recruitment by individual libraries. Limited seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. For details, please refer to the libraries hosting the reading clubs.
