Library Barrier-free Facilities

To facilitate people with different needs to make use of library facilities and services and participate in various library activities, the Hong Kong Public Libraries (HKPL) provides the following barrier-free facilities:

  • Automatic doors (Photo 1);
  • Braille and tactile maps (Photo 2);
  • Tactile guide paths (Photo 3);
  • Audio and visual signals of the emergency alarm systems (Photo 4);
  • Accessible lifts (Photo 5);
  • Accessible unisex toilets (Photo 6);
  • Lower service counters (Photo 7);
  • Induction loop systems (Photo 8);
  • Floor standing type self-checkout machines (Photo 9);
  • Desktop type self-service kiosks (Photo 10);
  • Barrier-free computer facilities (Photo 11); and
