NON-CIVIL SERVICE VACANCY
Research Assistant (Document Collection and Research) (Salary: HK$ : $22,560 per month)
Applicants should have
(A) a bachelor’s degree from a university in Hong Kong, or equivalent, majoring in Chinese Language, Chinese Literature or Chinese History, or equivalent;
(B) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 (See Note) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent;
(C) at least 2 years’ full-time post-qualification working experience;
(D) good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, fluency in Putonghua would be an advantage;
(E) familiar with local history and culture; and
(F) good computer skills.
(Note: For non-civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.)
(A) To assist in Documents Collection Campaign and the related research projects;
(B) to liaise with local collectors and organizations for donation of documents and books;
(C) to assist in compiling and publishing book catalogues on special collections;
(D) to assist in managing documentary materials for public’s reference;
(E) to assist in promoting and publicizing the Documents Collection Campaign; and
(F) to perform duties as assigned by senior officers.
Appointees may be required to work irregular hours, overtime and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Terms of Appointment:
Successful applicants will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months.
An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted to the appointee upon satisfactory completion of the contract with a consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, plus the Government’s contribution to the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave / paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
