Following “Joyful Reading Moment II” last year, the Hong Kong Public Libraries (HKPL) and Radio Television Hong Kong Radio 5 jointly organise the online reading activity “Journey with Words” this year with the theme “Journey” to encourage members of the public to utilise the e-book platforms of the HKPL and various media to travel around the corners of individual cities. By leveraging the power of words, participants will be able to transcend the framework of reality, explore new perspectives and gain insights.
Explore the Ocean of Books [Explore more] Participants can visit “Explore the Ocean of Books” on the “Journey with Words” website to read or listen to selected narrated articles from the SUEP e-Book collection. To tie in with the theme “Journey”, the articles will cover such topics as culture, history, intangible cultural heritage, food and dining, cities, children, as well as world and art, with a view to providing diversified reading options. |
“Matching Quotes with Snapshots” Competition [Explore more] All members of the public, in particular parents with their children are welcome to participate. Participants must choose one quote among the ten designated quotes and take photos matching the theme of the quotes. Winners will be awarded book coupons and certificates. The competition allows members of the public to deepen reading experience, ignite imagination of the quotes through snapshots. |
Participants can redeem a souvenir after finding designated check-in spots in various districts during a specified period.
Cultural and Creative Workshops [Explore more] The activity combines artistic creation with reading, inviting participants to step into the studios of cultural and arts workers, listen to their sharing, participate in artistic creation together and exchange reading experiences. Cultural and arts workers will also make book recommendations to encourage participants to integrate reading into their daily lives.
