Content
The workshop features classes to enable students to explore the importance of reading and experience the power of words from different perspectives. The classes cover the following six areas:
| 1. | Introduction to thinking | Through lively presentations and in-depth explanations of the texts, students will be guided to engage in deep thinking, analyse the perspectives of authors and understand their thoughts. |
| 2. | Reading appreciation | Students are encouraged to share the books and articles they have read and exchange their reading experiences and insights with one another to promote peer learning and interactions. |
| 3. | Performing arts and text exploration | By integrating performing arts with text interpretation, students are invited to participate in role-playing and recitation, through which they will be able to grasp the emotions and meanings conveyed by authors in their words and sample the vitality and artistic tone and flavour of words. |
| 4. | Data collection skills | The class teaches effective ways of searching and organising data, so as to enhance students’ ability to think independently and make sound judgment on data. |
| 5. | Understanding wrong Chinese characters | The class focuses on analysing and explaining the common errors of using Chinese characters found in the media, books and online articles, with a view to enhancing students’ sensitivity of Chinese characters and their ability to identify errors in using Chinese characters, thereby strengthening their self-correction, text comprehension and reading ability. |
| 6 | Stress-relief activities | Simple stretching exercises or free dance activities to help students release stress and relax, thereby enhancing their concentration and creating a pleasant learning atmosphere for better engagement and effectiveness in reading. |
Extended Learning
At the end of each class, the speaker will recommend relevant books to students for extended learning purposes.
