Payment by Mainland China's Licensed Digital Wallets (LDWs)
Q.1: Which LDWs may I use for paying library fees and charges?
A.1: You may use Alipay (Mainland), WeChat Pay (Mainland) or UnionPay to pay library fees and charges.
Q.2: If I use the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (commonly known as “Home Return Permit”) for identity verification when registering for the Alipay (Mainland) or WeChat Pay (Mainland) account, can I use that account to pay library fees and charges?
A.2: No. You must use the People’s Republic of China resident identity card for identity verification when registering for the Alipay (Mainland) or WeChat Pay (Mainland) account before using that account to pay library fees and charges.
Q.3: Do I need to register before I can pay library fees and charges by LDWs?
A.3: No registration is needed. You may simply show the payment QR code in the LDW and the library staff will scan the code with the payment device for fund collection.
Q.4: Can I pay only a portion of the fees and charges?
A.4: All fees and charges must be paid in full in a single transaction.
Q.5: Can I pay different types of charges/fines in a single transaction? For example, can I pay overdue fines and charges for reservation of library materials at the same time?
A.5: Due to the limitation in the functions of the payment device of the library, you can only pay one type of fees and charges in each transaction.
Q.6: Will any transaction charge be levied by the Hong Kong Public Libraries on readers for making payment by LDWs?
A.6: No.
Q.7: How can I confirm that my payment is successful?
A.7: You may check the transaction history of your LDWs.
Q.8: Will I receive a receipt after making payment by LDWs?
A.8: A machine-printed receipt will be issued to you upon completion of payment.
Q.9: Can I ask for a refund of the fees and charges paid by LDWs?
A.9: No refund will be made except under special circumstances. Refund, if any, will be made to the LDWs used for payment or given by way of a cheque.
