1/ Music Office Music Exhibition – A Rendezvous with the Guqin

Date: 2026/9/16 (Wednesday) to 2026/9/29 (Tuesday)

Venue: Lam Tin Public Library
Description: With a history dating back around 3,000 years, the qin, or guqin as this Chinese zither is more commonly called today, is one of the oldest plucked musical instruments in China. The guqin ranks first among the traditional four arts of Chinese literati, along with chess, calligraphy and painting. Occupying a distinctive position in Chinese culture, the art of guqin music was designated a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO in 2003 and has thus been recognised as part of the world’s intangible cultural heritage. This exhibition will bring you a wonderful world of guqin music.

This exhibition is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has long been promoting Chinese history and culture through organizing an array of programmes and activities to enable the public to learn more about the broad and profound Chinese culture. 1/ Brief Introduction on "Hong Kong Memory" Exhibition

Date: 2026/9/2 (Wednesday) to 2026/9/28 (Monday)
Time: Library Opening Hours
Venue: Tsing Yi Public Library
Description: The "Hong Kong Memory" website is a multimedia website that gives free and open access to digitized materials on the historical and cultural heritage of Hong Kong, including text documents, photographs, posters, sound recordings, motion pictures and videos. The website has been made available for public access since December 2012.
In order to increase the public awareness on this resourceful website, the Hong Kong Public Libraries will arrange a roving exhibition to introduce its origin, content structure and to visualize the characteristics of the "Hong Kong Memory" website.
