Special Library Opening Hours

Hong Kong Public Libraries will have special opening hours on 16 February 2026 (Lunar New Year’s Eve) and will be closed whole day from 17 to 19 February 2026 (The First to Third Day of Lunar New Year). All online services and Self-service Library Station services will also be suspended from 0:30 a.m. on 17 February 2026 to 11:59 p.m. on 19 February 2026 for the maintenance work of the library system.

1/ Exhibition on Documents of Residence in Guangdong and Hong Kong over centuries

Description: Villages and city residences in Lingnan region have adapted to the climate of South China over centuries, and characterized by the residents’ communal lifestyle. As a hub for cultural exchange between East and West, residential buildings in Guangzhou and Hong Kong feature mixed architectural styles since the 19th century. Showcasing documents, photos, newspapers and books related to residence and housing selected from the Documents Collection Campaign, the document display revisits the evolution of Chinese dwellings in the region, and illustrates stories of living in Hong Kong through literary works.

This document display is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has long been promoting Chinese history and culture through organizing an array of programmes and activities to enable the public to learn more about the broad and profound Chinese culture. 1/ 320 World Oral Health Day Exhibition

Description: The exhibition emphasised the importance of developing good oral care habits, which include keeping the mouth clean, regular dental check-ups, adopting healthy eating habits, reducing sugar consumption and avoiding tobacco and alcohol. By following these habits, individuals of every age can maintain healthy teeth and gums, and enjoy a lifetime of beautiful smiles.

1/ Talk on Chinese Classics: The Interrelationship and Interplay of Chinese History, Culture, and Literature

Description:
To promote the Chinese Culture and the appreciation of Chinese classical literature among people, a series of talks on classical Chinese with various topics is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Public Libraries, Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Hok Hoi Library. The talk series is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series.
