Looking back on the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression
Date: | 2024/5/8 (Wednesday) to 2024/8/27 (Tuesday) |
Time: | Library Opening Hours |
Venue: | Hong Kong Central Library (8/F Cultural and Historical Resources Corner) |
In the early 1930s, Japan was eager to expand its territory, and China was their main target of invasion. Under the brutal rule of the Japanese, local people lived a miserable life and endured social unrest. Organisations such as the Hong Kong Independent Battalion of the Dongjiang Column, the British Army Aid Group and the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Corps subsequently launched operations to defend the territory against Japanese aggression. Japan eventually announced its unconditional surrender on 15 August 1945. The victory in the Anti-Japanese war marked the end of those days of suffering.
The exhibition is also one of the activities in the Chinese Culture Promotion Series. The LCSD has long been promoting Chinese history and culture through organising an array of programmes and activities to enable the public to learn more about the broad and profound Chinese culture.
