Cantonese opera, also called Guangdong drama, is one of the xiqu genres in Guangdong Province. The history of Cantonese opera in Hong Kong can be dated back to the period between 19th century and early 20th century when a number of troupes, organised by Guangzhou companies, performed in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macau. Since then, Cantonese opera became a major entertainment for Hong Kong people. Notable artists and troupes emerged with many popular repertoires created.

The exhibition showcases some selected documents include clay-printed libretto, postbills and special brochures, revealing the development and characteristics of Cantonese opera in Hong Kong.
