Bridging East and West: Exhibition on Literary Translation in Hong Kong
The history of literary translation in Hong Kong can be traced back to the works by the missionary in the mid-19th century. Stepping into the 21st century, the fruitful translated works have already reflected a diversity of the translation skills and forms, facilitating the cultural interaction between East and West, as well as the exchange of thoughts and ideas. Showcasing the books and the manuscripts selected from the Documents Collection Campaign, the exhibition revisits the trend and characteristics of literary translation in Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Musicians Series: The Revered Cantonese Opera Playwright: YIP Shiu-tuck
The Revered Cantonese Opera Playwright YIP Shiu-tuck (1929-2009) dedicated his life to Cantonese opera. He wrote many popular Cantonese operas and Cantonese operatic songs for different troupes and singers. He made remarkable contribution to Cantonese opera education. He wished his scriptwriting course students can learn from his experience and would enable the spirit of Cantonese opera to pass on from generation to generation.
The exhibition showcases the manuscripts, photographs, house programme, leaflets and newspaper clipping. Readers can find out more about this renowned playwright.
