Traditional two-dimensional (2D) maps have served as valuable tools for navigation. However, they have limitations in representing complex urban landscapes like Hong Kong. To overcome this, the Lands Department developed three-dimensional (3D) Digital Map using advanced survey and mapping technology, by integrating other spatial data and analysis tools, Hong Kong is moving towards a smart city. The speaker will introduce the Lands Department’s 3D Digital Map project, discuss the current progress and roadmap in developing 3D digital maps in Hong Kong and its’ potential applications, and further highlighting it’s transformative effects on urban landscape, decision-making, efficiency, and livability.
