In recent years, we witnessed the loss of traditional skills and tightly held recipes with the close-down of old shops and restaurants. For many patrons of these shops and restaurants, their first visit might also be their last, rendering such visit a novelty rather than nostalgia. How can our younger generation find old time delicacies? Through pictures and textual descriptions in books, readers can not only search for bygone delicacies, but also savour the tastes that linger in memories. Like relationships, they will be more cherished when they become memories. |
