| Date & Time: | 17/6/2023 (Saturday) 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon |
| Venue: | Hong Kong Central Library (Lecture Theatre, G/F) |
| Description: | The elderly of Hakka and Punti from Lung Yeuk Tau village first talks about the traditional patterned band weaving, taking us into the lives of women in the past and helping us understand the relationship between traditional clothing and patterned bands craftsmanship, as well as the meanings behind the colors and patterns of bands. Mrs. Tang Leung Siu Ha, inheritor of Punti's patterned bands, then demonstrates the weaving process and explains the principles behind the double-sided patterns, showing us that weaving concepts can be well executed even with simple tools. This serves as a typical example of small things leading to great wisdom. Ms. Gladys Chiu, inheritor of Hakka and Punti's patterned bands, then shares dozens of patterned band she had woven, her techniques of thread selection and colour matching, as well as the potential applications of patterned band in modern forms. |
