The Hong Kong Public Libraries of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department has launched a pilot scheme to set up three Self-service Library Stations, one each on Hong Kong Island, in Kowloon and the New Territories. These stations provide round-the-clock services, such as borrowing, return, payment and pickup of reserved library materials.
Presently, many readers choose to pick up reserved library materials at the Self-service Library Stations. Due to the limited storage space at the Self-service Library Stations, reserved items need to be put on shelves on a queuing basis, readers may take a longer time to pick up their reserved items. During this period, the status of the reserved item will be displayed as “Transit Hold”.
