Collection Maintenance
The HKPL develops and maintains collections which meet the readers' needs for current and retrospective information while serving their interests in different subject areas. Regular and systematic weeding is conducted by librarians to identify titles for withdrawal from library collections. When library items become worn out/damaged, or the information contained is outdated, or when their reference or research value is lost (in the case of reference collections), they should be withdrawn to ensure the vitality and usefulness of the collections, and to make room for new and updated materials.
