Latest arrangements on services of Hong Kong Public Libraries

In view of the latest situation of COVID-19, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will adopt further measures to maintain social distancing. From 15 July 2020 (Wednesday), all public libraries and their students’ study room will be temporarily closed. All book drop services of the Hong Kong Public Libraries and those located at three MTR stations as well as the self-service library stations (at Island East Sports Centre Sitting-out Area, the Hong Kong Cultural Centre and Tsuen Nam Road, Tai Wai) will also suspend services. Public libraries will continue to provide online services such as e-Books and e-Databases. Overdue fines will not be generated for late return of library materials, due date of reservation pick up will be extended and the maximum number of renewal increased accordingly. All library programmes will be cancelled. Please refer to the library notice on the special arrangements details.

Students’ Study Room (SSR) Admission Card (Applicable to the examination season from 1 March to 7 May 2020) _Notice (2)

10.03.2020

To tie in with the arrangement under the "Preparedness and Response Plan for Novel Infectious Disease of Public Health Significance" and avoid students staying long and gathering in Students’ Study Room (SSR) to reduce the risk of being infected, the SSR of public libraries will continue to be temporarily closed. Application for SSR Admission Card during 6 January to 4 February 2020 applicable to the examination season from 1 March to 7 May 2020 is therefore suspended. LCSD will continue to monitor the situation closely and review the reopening of SSR in a timely manner. Libraries will also take into account of the latest development to decide whether the application for SSR Admission Card should be extended and the relevant arrangements accordingly, details to be provided until further notice.
