Online Payment Service
Points to Note
- You may pay fees and charges such as overdue fines and reservation fees online by designated credit cards (JCB, MasterCard, UnionPay or Visa), FPS, Alipay, WeChat Pay or UnionPay app.
- For replacement costs of lost library materials and outstanding charges being recovered from legal actions, you are required to settle the payment in person at any public libraries. Online payment is not accepted.
- All fees and charges must be paid in full in a single transaction.
- Please check the payable amount carefully in “My Account” before making online payment. No refund will be made except under special circumstances. Refund, if any, will be made to the credit card account/bank account linked with FPS/digital wallet used for payment.
- Once online payment is selected, the system will link with the payment gateway of the designated bank. Please do not close or change the browser window during the entire process. If you choose to pay by FPS, Alipay, WeChat Pay or UnionPay app, please open the relevant app, scan the payment QR code within 3 minutes and complete the payment within 10 minutes.
- Alipay (Mainland) and WeChat Pay (Mainland) ONLY support payment by users who register with People’s Republic of China resident identity cards. For digital wallets registered by Hong Kong residents with “Mainland Travel Permits for Hong Kong and Macau Residents” (commonly known as “Home Return Permits”), payment cannot be made by Alipay (Mainland) and WeChat Pay (Mainland).
- An acknowledgement page will be shown upon completion of payment. Please record the Transaction Reference Number or print the acknowledgement page for future reference, and double-check whether the payable amount in “My Account” has been settled. No separate receipt will be issued for online payment.
- Some credit card issuing banks do not support online payment. For enquiries, please contact your credit card issuing bank.
- You may need to register your credit card for “Verified by Visa” or “MasterCard SecureCode” before making online payment. Please contact your credit card issuing bank for details.
- The QR code payment function provided in each mobile banking app or digital wallet may be different. Please contact the relevant bank or digital wallet provider for details.
- If you have doubts about payment items on your bank statement, please contact your bank.
Making online payment

- Visit the Hong Kong Public Libraries website at http://www.hkpl.gov.hk .
- Under “My Account/Renewal” on the homepage,
- Enter your library card number or Hong Kong Identity Card Number#
- Enter your password and click Login
- After login, select My Account on the top menu and click Account tab.
- Select the checkbox(es) of the payment item(s) on the left and click Pay.
- Your selected payment item(s) will be displayed on the "Confirm your Payment" page:
- Click Confirm if the information is correct and go to Step 6; or
- Click Go Back if you want to change your selection and go back to Step 4; or
- Click Cancel if you do not want to proceed with the payment.
- Different payment methods will be displayed on the “Select a payment method” page. You may click to select the appropriate payment method. If you choose to pay by credit card, go to Step 7.1. If you choose to pay by FPS, Alipay, WeChat Pay or UnionPay app, go to Step 7.2.
- Making payment:
7.1 On the credit card payment page, enter the following credit card information for verification and click Pay.
- Credit Card Number
- Expiry Date
- Cardholder’s Name (only applicable to JCB, MasterCard and Visa)
- 3-digit security code on the back of the credit card
7.2 Open the FPS/Alipay/WeChat Pay/UnionPay app at mobile device and scan the payment QR code on the “Scan QR Code to Pay” page within 3 minutes to complete the payment. If you would like to cancel the payment, please click “Cancel Payment” to exit the page. Please note:
- The payment QR code is only valid for 3 minutes
- Please complete the payment within 10 minutes after scanning the QR Code
- The "Acknowledgement Page" will be shown upon completion of payment. Please record the Transaction Reference Number or print the page for future enquiry.
- On the “Acknowledgement Page”, click Back to return to “My Account”. The paid items will no longer be displayed in your account.
