Hong Kong Oral History Collection -Hong Kong Heritage Museum
Introduction
The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is one of the museums managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Opened in 2000, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum occupies a gross floor area of 32,000m² and enjoys a net exhibition area of 7,500 m², making it the largest museum of its kind in Hong Kong. It has been designed to provide comprehensive exhibitions on history, art and culture.
A highly visitor-oriented museum, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum offers a diverse range of dynamic and interactive exhibitions and programmes to engage visitors in enjoyable and educational experiences as they appreciate the valuable artefacts on display.

Through the rich heritage created by Hong Kong people, their ancestors and descendents to promote Hong Kong as a cultural metropolis.
Mission
To preserve, study, present and interpret the material culture of the peoples of Hong Kong for the education, inspiration and enjoyment of Hong Kong residents and visitors.
Major Exhibitions on Hong Kong Studies
The Hong Kong Heritage Museum has six permanent galleries. Among them, the New Territories Heritage Hall introduces the history and development of the New Territories while the Cantonese Opera Heritage Hall offers a wonderful insight into the history and characteristics of Cantonese opera. Besides, the Museum also has six thematic galleries to present a great variety of exhibitions on local culture. Oral histories provide first-hand information for us to prepare the exhibition.
