Remarks:
Hong Kong witnessed its post-war baby boom in the 1950s. To cope with the population surge, the government started a programme to develop public housing in resettlement areas. As a result, many public housing estates were constructed in Wong Tai Sin, such as Wang Tau Hom Estate, Lok Fu Estate, Fu Shan Estate, Choi Hung Estate and so on. Among them was Tsz Wan Shan Estate, which comprised 63 blocks and had once been the largest public housing estate in Hong Kong. In this talk, the speaker who grew up in a public housing estate years ago, will start from his personal experience, and then explore the history of these estates, as well as the daily lives and stories of the good old days.
Conducted in Cantonese. Admission Free by Registration.
