Reopening the Children’s Facilities of Hong Kong Public Libraries

With effect from 31 May (Monday), Hong Kong Public Libraries will reopen children’s computer facilities including the Kid’s Internet & Digital Service workstations and the Children’s Multimedia Room, and the Toy Library of the Hong Kong Central Library. Libraries will continue to implement precautionary measures (including that users are required to scan the "LeaveHomeSafe" QR code or register their names, contact number and date and time of the visit before admission), and limit the number of readers entering the library to avoid gathering and foster social distancing. Children aged under 12 are allowed to enter the library to use library facilities and services only when accompanied by an adult. Please refer to the Details.

All static and mobile libraries have resumed the calculation of overdue fines from 5 March and 3 May respectively. Readers are advised to renew or return their borrowed items on time to avoid incurring overdue fines.

Temporary Closure of Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai Public Library

06.06.2021

Since a person tested positive with N501Y mutant strain had visited the Ping Shan Tin Shui Wai Public Library (PSTSWPL), the Government has published a notice in the Gazette requesting any person who had been to the PSTSWPL for more than one hour at any time during the period from 9 am to 2 pm on 1 June 2021 to undergo testing by tomorrow (7 June). The PSTSWPL will therefore be closed tomorrow (7 June) to tie in with the compulsory testing of relevant staff who are required to obtain a negative test result before resuming duties. Thorough cleaning and sterilisation has already been conducted at the PSTSWPL.

During the temporary closure of PSTSWPL, readers can return all borrowed library materials, including non-print materials such as cassette or CD, through the book drop. The concerned loan record will be updated within 24 hours. Readers are advised to renew or return their borrowed items on time to avoid incurring overdue fines.
