All Hong Kong Public Libraries will be reopened

With effect from 19 April (Tuesday), students’ study rooms of the Hong Kong Public Libraries will be reopened. With effect from 21 April (Thursday), all public libraries and mobile libraries will resume services. In accordance with the Government's latest Vaccine Pass requirements, Vaccine Pass arrangement will be implemented on the same dates, other precautionary measures include limiting the number of people entering the library and users are required to scan the "LeaveHomeSafe" QR code or register their names, contact number and the date and time of the visit before admission for necessary contact tracing if a confirmed case is found. For details of service resumption, opening hours and admission arrangement, please refer to Details.

Calculation of overdue fines will be resumed from 5 May for late return of library items. Readers are advised to renew their borrowed items on time or return the overdue items as soon as possible in order not to incur overdue fines.

Replacement of Fan Coil Units and Split Type Units of the Air-conditioning System at Cheung Chau Public Library [Expected Improvement works period: 20.12.2021 - 19.3.2022]


To improve the library facilities and reading environment, replacement of the fan coil units and split type units of the air-conditioning system will be carried out in phases at the Cheung Chau Public Library starting from 20 December 2021.  The works are expected to last for around four months.  During the period, some library facilities will be temporarily closed in phases, and the shelving location of collections will be rearranged.  Other library facilities and services will be available as usual.
