Reopening the Children’s Facilities of Hong Kong Public Libraries

With effect from 31 May (Monday), Hong Kong Public Libraries will reopen children’s computer facilities including the Kid’s Internet & Digital Service workstations and the Children’s Multimedia Room, and the Toy Library of the Hong Kong Central Library. Libraries will continue to implement precautionary measures (including that users are required to scan the "LeaveHomeSafe" QR code or register their names, contact number and date and time of the visit before admission), and limit the number of readers entering the library to avoid gathering and foster social distancing. Children aged under 12 are allowed to enter the library to use library facilities and services only when accompanied by an adult. Please refer to the Details.

All static and mobile libraries have resumed the calculation of overdue fines from 5 March and 3 May respectively. Readers are advised to renew or return their borrowed items on time to avoid incurring overdue fines.

Due to water leakage issue at 3/F Smithfield Municipal Services Building, Smithfield Public Library has been temporarily closed until further notice. During the closure, the book drop service is available from 07:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. until further notice. Readers who need to borrow or return library materials may also visit other public libraries. Loan items can also be renewed by telephone on 2698 0002 / 2827 2833 or online at http://www.hkpl.gov.hk.
