Film Studies: The Dionysian Spirit in China's 1980s: Interpretations on Literary Text and Film "Red Sorghum"; Women's Writing and "The Lover"
By a comparative analysis on Mo Yan's novel "Red Sorghum Clan" and Zhang Yimou's film "Red Sorghum", this talk will review the Dionysian spirit in the cultural context of the 1980s.
This seminar will introduce the women's writing through the comparison between the novel and its film adaptation of "The Lover" and demonstrate the differences between a female writer and a male director's perspective for the story.
