History aims to explore the diversity of human experience. Most Hong Kong students, however, associate history education with rote learning, and they may fail to realise the values embedded in their knowledge of the past. In order to create a new history learning experience, the speaker has adopted the "4-re'' history learning approach — reconstruct, reread, reflect, and research. This talk will focus on using individual and collective memories of Hong Kong people to reconstruct the history of Hong Kong, and discuss the significance of Hong Kong culture.
