Well before the lease of the New Territories to the British government, Kowloon City had been a flourishing place. Not only was it a strategic military base of the Qing government, but there were also customs checkpoint and pier, markets and villages as well as charitable and religious activities. The speaker will go back to Kowloon City in its early years of prosperity from the historical development of the Kowloon Walled City, Kwun Fu Cheung, Hau Wong Temple, Four Yeuk and Twenty-three Villages and Lok Sin Tong.
