HKPL welcomes public views on library services

Readers' feedback is important and invaluable for enhancing library services. To establish effective communication channels with readers, the Hong kong Public Libraries (HKPL) holds regular discussions with teacher-librarians and annual Customer Liaison Group (CLG) meetings to gauge their views, opinions and suggestions on library services.

Meetings with teacher-librarians

From April to June this year, the HKPL met with the teacher-librarians of the Kwun Tong district, Yau Tsim Mong district as well as the Shamshuipo district to share experience, exchange views and explore possible areas of co-operation. Teacher-librarians from 19 schools participated in the meetings and contributed their valuable views on library services and activities.

Most teachers are satisfied with the services provided by the public libraries. Amongst their views, the block loan service is one of the most welcomed services in encouraging students to read more. Some teachers also found library visits and online resources on the HKPL website helpful to their students.

They also suggested the libraries to offer more search strategy guides for students, arrange visits to library technical services such as the Book Binding Unit. Some teachers also reflected the increasing need for digital library services by their students. The HKPL will follow up on implementing the suggestions and comments received.

Walk in and talk to us

This year's Customer Liaison Group tea gatherings will be held on 20, 21, 27 and 28 November at 30 public libraries across the territory. Members of the public are welcome to participate and give views on the public library services. Simply walk in and join any one of the tea gathering sessions listed on the schedule. You may also reserve a seat by completing a form obtainable from the public libraries. Admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants will receive a souvenir from the HKPL as a token of thanks for their contribution.

Readers' concerns are our concerns

HKPL values every suggestion and comment from our readers. On top of face-to-face meetings, readers are also welcome to send us their views through e-mail, post, fax or the sugestion box in each library.
