New Library Services for Tung Chung

The new Tung Chung Public Library was opened on 3 April to provide accessible library services to Tung Chung residents. Situated at the second floor of Yat Tung Shopping Centre, the Tung Chung Public Library is easily accessible. It has a total floor area of 745 square metres and comprises an adult library, a children's library, a newspapers and periodicals section and an extension activities room. The Library also provides computer terminals for readers to access the online catalogue, multimedia information and the Internet.

The new Tung Chung Public Library holds a stock of about 40,000 items of Chinese and English books, 2,000 items of compact discs and over 70 titles of newspapers and periodicals catering for readers of all ages and interests. The Library also organizes regular extension activities, including storytelling sessions for children and book displays. The Tung Chung Public Library records an average daily patronage of over 1,400 and checks out more than 2,300 items of library materials every day.
