MMIS extends its service network and hours

The Multimedia Information System (MMIS) of the Hong Kong Public Libraries (HKPL) has recently further extended its services to a total of 25 public libraries as well as its online service hours, following its first phase of extension last April.

Subsequent to this second phase of extension, the MMIS is now available at the workstations of the following 25 major and district libraries across the territory. Readers can also access the system through the Internet from 9am to midnight from Thursday to Monday and on public holidays; from 9am to 9pm on Tuesday; and from 1pm to 9pm on Wednesday.

Through the MMIS, readers can access over 90,000 audio-visual and CD-ROM items and more than 1.8 million digitized images and documents, such as back issues of Hong Kong newspapers and clippings, house programmes of cultural and arts performances, posters, maps, photos, books and manuscripts, as well as about 80 online reference resources covering various topics. Users can also reserve the use of libraries' MMIS workstations, audio and video materials, CD-ROM databases, CD-ROMs for children of the system.
