|
|
Whether you want to search for information in the library catalogue, Multimedia Information System and Hong Kong Film Archive's catalogue with one click, save your library search results or loan records for future reference, or even rate a library book and share it with others, you can now do all this and more on the brand new online Library Catalogue of Hong Kong Public Libraries!
New catalogue interface New search mode
To further enhance public library services and cope with the future development of Hong Kong Public Libraries (HKPL), the HKPL has recently upgraded and replaced its computer system. A new library computer system, the Next Generation Integrated Library System (NGILS), was launched in end 2011. NGILS has replaced the previous Library Automation System and provides more enhanced features including a brand new online Library Catalogue that makes searching of library materials more efficient, effective, interactive and similar to today's online search mechanism. For those frequent users of Google, Yahoo and Facebook, they will find searching the new Library Catalogue more convenient and easier than before.

Advanced functions Novel experience
Besides the new user interface, there are many enhanced features in the new Library Catalogue. For example, it provides more search options and additional contents, such as image of book cover, book summary, etc., which facilitate readers’ choice of suitable library materials.
Moreover, readers can also save or share information on their favourite items with others, browse the library information at any time and place, and keep their loan history in their accounts for future reference. Through the Library Catalogue, readers can also login their accounts for reservation and renewal of library materials, or register for the email notification service to receive a due date reminder via email in order to avoid overdue.
