Literary appreciation is a dynamic and multi-faceted journey. It helps to enrich the cultural life of the community. Apart from offering a collection on local Chinese literature, the Hong Kong Public Libraries also organizes a wide range of literary activities to encourage and inspire the general public on literature appreciation and writing. They include seminars, workshops, exhibitions, awards, competitions and publication of award-winning works. Among them, the Hong Kong Literature Festival, the Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature and the Awards for Creative Writing in Chinese, held in collaboration with the Art Development Council, are well received by the public and have become some of the most important events in the local literary scene.
