HKCL's subject talks contributing to the spread and sharing of knowledge

Is information pursuit and knowledge sharing unattainable? You will find a definite 'no' to the question at the Hong Kong Central Library.

Since its opening, the Library has been devoted to becoming a major knowledge, information and cultural centre of Hong Kong. Apart from providing a comprehensive library collection and quality library services, the Library has both organized and hosted a number of lectures, seminars and subject talks for the public, on a great variety of subjects.

Some of them included: Lectures on Humanities, Science and Technology by Contemporary Eminent Scholars, Distinguished Chinese Scientists Lecture Series, Subject Talks on CEPA and Hong Kong, Public Lectures on History and Business in China, Subject Talks on Cosmopolitan Hong Kong, Successful Women in Hong Kong Tell Their Stories and 'The Development of Hong Kong – Past and Future' Talk Series. Helping to create a favourable environment for the spread and sharing of knowledge, these wide-ranging and inquisitive subject talks have provided the public with greater accessibility to and an inspiring insight into different realms of knowledge, scholars' research achievements and celebrities' view and wisdom.

Coming up between September and December at the Lecture Theatre of the Hong Kong Central Library is an extensive array of public lectures and subject talks that will please all tastes from medicine to philosophy classics, from food and health to films and literature. Some of them include 'Celebrating 120 Years of Medical Education: Explore the World of Medicine' Public Lecture Series II, Great Books in Philosophy II, Subject Talk series on 'Decoding Food & Health', Talks on Hong Kong Films and Talk Series: The Choice Between Life and Death. For details, please visit the Hong Kong Public Libraries website at www.hkpl.gov.hk.

Not to be missed are the supplementary library resources guides for further reading on the related topics. Readers can also review some of the previous seminars through the library website.
