Hong Kong Music Collection Campaign encourages sharing
In order to develop and preserve a local music archive and to encourage study and research on Hong Kong music, the Hong Kong Music Collection Campaign was launched by the Hong Kong Public Libraries, the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and the Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong in late 2001.
Through the support and generous donations from local musicians and music institutes, the Campaign has collected over 46,000 items of music documents. These valuable items, including manuscripts of music scores, lyrics and opera scripts, audio-visual materials, photos, leaflets, house programmes or posters of musical performance as well as newspaper clippings, are kept in the ARC. They will be available for reference and research within the library after general conservation and cataloguing. For donation or enquiries, please contact the ARC at 2921 0259.
