Introduction: The Hong Kong Literature Collection was first built in 1994 when the ex-Urban Council Public Libraries launched a “Writer-in Residence Programme” and appointed incumbent, Mr. LIU Yi-chang to edit a “Who is Who in Hong Kong Literature”. The Hong Kong Literature Room collects books, manuscripts, letters, portraits, clippings, historical documents and the collection owes debt to the generous donations by quite a number of citizens who have contributed greatly to preserving the relics of local culture. Readers can read the materials in the Hong Kong Literature Room and access to the Hong Kong Literary Authors' Database of some 1,000 authors' biographies, bibliographies of works and criticism of literary authors via the workstation there. Besides, readers can also make use of the Multimedia Information System to access the authorized digital materials.
